Short answer

LocalBusiness schema is structured data (JSON-LD) that states your business type, name, address, phone, hours and service areas in a format search engines and AI systems read directly. Choose the most specific business type, keep every detail identical to your Google Business Profile, paste the code into your homepage or location page, and validate it with Google's Rich Results Test.

Best practices for LocalBusiness schema

  • Match your Google Business Profile exactly. Name, address and phone should be identical everywhere.
  • Use one block per location. Multi-location businesses should add schema to each location page with that location's details.
  • Service-area businesses: list the cities you serve in “Areas served.” If you don't show your address publicly, include only the city, region and country.
  • Add your profiles. Links to your Google, Facebook, Yelp and industry profiles help connect your business across the web.
  • Validate before publishing. Run the page through the Rich Results Test and the Schema Markup Validator.

LocalBusiness Schema Generator: FAQ

Still have questions? Call +1 (707) 981-4054

Where do I put the schema code?

Paste it into the <head> of your homepage, or of each location page if you have several locations. Most website builders and WordPress SEO plugins let you add custom code to the head of a page.

Does schema improve my Google Maps ranking?

Schema is not a direct Map Pack ranking factor, but it helps search engines and AI assistants understand and trust your business details, and it supports rich results in organic search.

Which business type should I choose?

Pick the most specific type that matches your business, such as Dentist, Plumber or RoofingContractor. If none fits, use LocalBusiness.

Do you store the information I enter?

No. The generator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to our servers.
